Ser.# Comments 1.01a SG3?? Original version. Some were EPROMs. 1.02a SG325 Infected by the HEU bug. 1.03a SG336 HEU (sHift kEy bUg) fixed, speed up for carry-forward todos. 1.04a SG342 Last ROM version prior to 2MB Model. Does not need FS.COM that comes on the CPACK disk for the redirector. 1.05a SG351 Added support for 2MB. 1.06a SG412 Final 100LX version. Some cc:Mail bugs fixed. Found on latest 2MB units, and on some 1MB models. At least one user reported a dramatic (2x) speedup in the calendar application monthly view when updating from 1.02a to 1.04a. 200LX ROM VERSIONS Ver. Ser.# 1.00a SG425 1.01a SG430 1.02a SG448 Notes:: price change 1994-02-01 $599?? The dimension of the *writable* display (i.e. widthwise from the left of pixel (0,0) to the right of pixel (639,0) and heightwise from the top of pixel (0,0) to the bottom of pixel (0,199)) is 118.4mm x 44mm. The screen area that includes what you can't write to (i.e. the little white bits on the edges) is about 122mm x 46.5mm The following document was compiled by Mark Scardina with help from HP's Everett Kaser. ICONS The owner's manual refers to .ICN files that can be created to add to the built-in icons. It however, does not refer to a format or location for these files. The following is that information. ICON FORMAT The .ICN file is exactly 200 bytes of the following format: Offset Byte 00h 01h 01h 00h 02h 01h 03h 00h 04h 2Ch 05h 00h 06h 20h 07h 00h 08h to C8h A 32 bit high by 44 bit wide bitmap where each bit equals one pixel. 0 is white and 1 is black. Byte 08h is the upper left corner. There is a zero nibble at the end of each row. ICN FILE LOCATION Each ICN file must be of the same name as the program that it is attached to. For example, FASTCOMM.COM would have an icon file called FASTCOMM.ICN. The ICN file must reside in the same directory as the application it is attached to. For example, if the complete path is A:\FC\FASTCOMM.COM then FASTCOMM.ICN must reside in A:\FC. You can fool System Manager by first specifying identical names, saving the entry, then editing the Path to a different file spec. MEMORY ALLOCATION Whenever a DOS application, BAT, COM or EXE, is lanuched from Application Manager, it is normally given the amount of memory specified in SETUP for the DOS partition. There is a way to override this and specify exactly what each application needs. On the PATH line after the application specification you can add "|###" where ### is the amount of memory desired in decimal notation. For example if FASTCOMM required 200K of memory, the PATH line would be: A:\FC\FASTCOMM.COM |200 The actual amount of memory required to launch will need to be 34K more to handle the overhead of System Manager's DOS Shell. This does not need to be in the amount specified on the PATH line. If you would like to give all available memory to the application, you may use the vertical bar without a number. This technique can also be used when launching a DOS application from the Appointment Book by setting an alarm. EXIT PROMPT Upon exiting a DOS application that was launched by Application Manager, you will normally be prompted to "Press any key to exit from DOS..." This can be bypassed by placing an upside down question mark, " ", in the COMMENT line. This can be entered by pressing [Fn][3]. SERIAL PORT USE There is a problem using the the serial port while System Manager is loaded. This can be eliminated by inserting an upside down exclamation point, "", in the COMMENT line. This can be entered by pressing [Fn][Filer]. When this option is active you cannot task switch from the DOS application. NOTE: The above two options can not be used together on the COMMENT line. Mark V. Scardina CIS ID: 76711,732 Charging current: first 6 hours 100 mA after 6 hours 45 mA You can't turn the machine off while charging. Nick Healey (nhealey@cix.compulink.co.uk) forwarded this data to Comp.sys.palmtops on 28 Jul 1995: Dataquest (market research firm) did a palmtop sales survey recently, for 1993-1994.
